Frequently Asked Roofing Sheet Timber
We offer both roof sheets and wooden roofing timbers. The timbers provide the structure and framework so that you can securely and safely attach your roofing sheets to the timbers. We provide both elements of roofing materials so that you can simply place one order with us, without needing to go elsewhere to source additional items to construct your dog-run roof.
Our roofing sheets come in standard sizes of 1.7 or 2 metres long by 1 metre wide. If you require any other size, we can provide that for you, simply get in touch and we will work with you. Our roofing timber comes in a variety of different lengths, as well as varying thicknesses so that you can construct the best framework for your roof. However, if you need other sizes of timber, we can arrange this for you, again, simply get in touch and let us help you.
When installing a roof on a dog kennel, spend time thinking about what you are going to do. Our timber is designed to fit with our dog runs, so you can attach the timber framework onto the top of the dog run panels, before securing the roofing sheets to the structure. Generally, it is easier to install a roof with more than one person, so ask a friend for help during your installation. If you are unsure of the best way to install a roof onto your dog kennel or run, please contact our team at Dog Kennels Direct, for advice and support.
Generally, we advise that you install the roof for your dog run or kennel with a slight angle. The angle allows rainwater to run off easily and melting snow to slide off when thawing. Flat roofs are notoriously difficult to maintain and have a tendency to pool and puddle leading to problems with water retention. Installing your roof with an angle will help your roof to be long-lasting and effective, giving your dogs a cosy and protected area to enjoy in all weathers for many years to come.
